๐ŸŒฟ Empowering the Future of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in Guyana! โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ง

On August 6, 2025, the National Ozone Action Unit (NOAU) successfully hosted its Stakeholder Capacity Building Workshop, bringing together key partners in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) sector for a day of knowledge-sharing and technical empowerment.

The workshop focused on the safe use of alternative refrigerants, highlighting best practices in handling, storage, and safety. Participants received vital updates on the importance of adhering to national standards, particularly in the labelling of refrigerants, appliances, and related equipmentโ€”a key element in promoting consumer safety and environmental responsibility.

We were honored to feature presentations from our colleagues at the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) on general product labelling requirements, reinforcing the need for standardization across the board.

A major highlight of the event was a technical presentation and live demonstration by Mr. Patrick Chinedu, Director of CTVET, who shared expert insights on current refrigeration and air conditioning standards, industry trends, and safety protocols.

To further support the growth and modernization of technical training, the NOAU also distributed tools, equipment, and technical standards to several technical institutes. These resources, provided under our HCFC Phase-Out Management Plan (HPMP) project, will significantly enhance the quality and relevance of RAC training programmes nationwide.

Together, we are building the capacity of our institutions, empowering our technicians, and supporting Guyanaโ€™s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection under the Montreal Protocol.
